Elite Performance Sports Chiropractors, Dr. Jon Wilhelm and Dr. Todd Riddle, debut presenttion at TCC

Dr. Jon Wilhelm of Pro Chiropractic in Bozeman, MT, and Dr. Todd Riddle, a distinguished faculty member at Texas Chiropractic College (TCC) and founder of Coastal Performance Chiropractic in Seabrook, TX, took the stage at the 2023 Texas Chiropractic College Homecoming Convention and 115th Anniversary Celebration to present their seminar, “Athlete Performance Therapy: Advanced Decision-Making for Sports Clinicians.” The highly anticipated presentation took place at the Texas Chiropractic College, from July 22 to July 24. Dr. Wilhelm and Dr. Riddle joined forces to share their invaluable  experiences as elite performance chiropractors.

“Elite Athlete Performance Therapy”

Dr. Wilhelm and Dr. Riddle delved into crucial topics during the seminar, including necessary education competencies for sports providers, the essential role of chiropractors within sports medicine staff hierarchies, proper certifications for sporting events, the importance of evidence-informed decision-making, and the utilization of advanced clinical decision-making techniques. Furthermore, they explored the art of traveling with sports teams and athletes, discussing licensing requirements, medico-legal considerations, and the creation of a comprehensive treatment “kit” for on-the-road practice.

“Elite Athlete Performance Therapy: Advanced Decision-Making for Sports Clinicians” was designed to address the unique challenges faced by sports chiropractors, particularly in high-pressure situations where immediate treatment decisions can make all the difference between an athlete continuing in competition or being sidelined.

The seminar was divided into two power-packed hours of informative content. During the first hour, participants gained insights into defining sports chiropractic, the integration of chiropractic culture within sports, the essential skills and training required for qualified sports chiropractors, an overview of certifications available for sporting events, and the necessary equipment for successful practice. In the second hour, Dr. Wilhelm and Dr. Riddle delved into the high-level decision-making required by sports chiropractors.

When asked about their collaboration on this groundbreaking presentation, Dr. Jon Wilhelm expressed his excitement, saying”

“I was so excited to team up with Dr. Riddle on this presentation!  An idea that started almost two years ago on a snowy hill in Germany, has grown into a passion project for Todd and I.  Our combined dedication is to provide up and coming sports chiropractors with the inspiration, pathway and skills to work with elite athletes.  This was our first opportunity to debut two hours of an envisioned 12-hour course which will literally change the game for aspiring sports chiropractors!  Exciting things to come!”

Dr. Todd Riddle added,

“It was a pleasure to share the stage with one of the most experienced and knowledgeable sports chiropractors in the world at the Texas Chiropractic College annual homecoming in Pasadena, TX. This presentation has been in the works for two years and finally came to fruition.  It's rewarding to share our experiences providing elite performance therapy to athletes from all over the world and teach the next generation of sports providers”.
